Car Sounds You Need to Get Checked Out

If your car is making odd noises, there is no reason why you should ignore them. Those noises are being emitted for a reason; and chances are you have no idea what those reasons are. Instead of telling yourself, “it’s not a big deal,” or, “I’ll do it later,” take these car sounds seriously. After all, ignoring them could be expensive, but if you take care of them now? You will be saving yourself as much money as possible on repairs. Who knows? Maybe the noise is not anything to worry about; but you will never know if you do not get your car inspected first. Below are a few of the many car sounds you need to get checked out immediately if you hear them.

Odd noises when braking

Have you noticed that whenever you put on your car’s brakes that you hear a screeching sensation? This is usually a sure sign that your brake hardware is worn down. This will cause a brake pad did not release properly, which causes more heat and noise than your car should have to handle. Thus, your car likely needs new brake pads installed or you likely need the car’s brake rotors to be resurfaced or even completely replaced. Not only will this stop the noise, but you will be able to stop your vehicle safely.

You may also hear a grinding noise whenever you put on your brakes as well. This usually sounds like a ‘metal-to-metal’ sensation, which in turn causes the grinding noise in your vehicle. The culprit of this noise is close to the same as the noise mentioned above, and you probably need new brake pads. However, the noise could be much worse. The brake calipers and even the pistons could be grinding against your vehicle’s rotor. This could be an expensive repair if you wait longer, so get it fixed immediately.

Scraping noises

Whenever you start up your vehicle – or even whenever you accelerate from stopping – you may be hearing a scraping sensation that is so loud it grabs the attention of other drivers around you. Not only is the sound annoying, but it could also be harmful for your vehicle. Luckily, this is one of the most milder car sounds – and we say that because the repair needed to stop this noise isn’t very expensive. The only thing that is happening is your vehicle’s belt is slipping on the car’s pulleys and simply needs to be replaced or tightened. It is a simple repair that any auto mechanic can repair in a matter of minutes.

Weird humming noise when driving

If you have noticed there is a weird humming noise (or perhaps the noise even sounds like a loud growl) emitting from your automobile whenever you are driving down the highway, it is time that you get this checked out immediately. However, the culprit probably is not what you expect: if you hear this noise, you merely have a bad tire (or tires as the case may be). Simply take the vehicle to your nearest auto mechanic immediately and stop this car sound from driving you crazy.
